Abstract

A 29-year-old man had cholesterolosis of the anterior chamber. There was the appearance of refractile crystals in the anterior chamber of a blind eye several years after the eye had suffered a penetrating injury and removal of an intraocular foreign body. Within three weeks after the appearance of these crystals, the eye became injected, painful, developed a hyphema, and the eye was enucleated. The source of the crystals is unknown, although it may be due to the same unknown mechanism that causes synchysis scintillans of the vitreous. © 1974.
