Abstract

A case study for cleaning ultra high purity water piping loop distribution systems when bacteria, total organic carbon and particle level became unacceptably high is described. Such piping systems were treated with hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid/hydrogen peroxide and a quaternary ammonium compound and the latter found to be most cost-effective. Further details of the test undertaken of a system using these compounds and a graphical summary of data collected are given. (P.J.B.)
