Abstract

Computer models are often used as substitutes for physical systems in engineering studies. When these studies are organized in advance with particular goals in mind, they are sometimes called computer experiments. We briefly describe a few general types of computer experiments and how Gaussian stochastic processes are used as statistical metamodels or surrogates in some of these settings.
