Abstract

It has long been said that the idea of free-flow information is most dominate in the creation of Internet infrastructure. And the counterpart issue of Internet security is rising up in recent years for the purpose of dealing with rapid development of Internet. This paper is going to focus on the aspect of free-flow information within Internet and discuss its influence to the protection of human rights through the comparison between the protection of freedom of speech and information privacy. In this article, a real example will be set forth in order to indicate there could be some important issues within Internet which is established on the concept of free-flow information. And the introduction of technical characteristics of infrastructure in Internet embodied such general idea will also lead to the main discussion of how much and to what extent the fundamental idea of free-flow information will influence the regulation through the comparison of such possible impact between the protection of freedom of speech and information privacy. This article will conclude the more powerful protection in the freedom of speech which is directly related to the concept of free-flow information other than in the information privacy which is indirectly related to such concept in the current United States. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media.
