Abstract

The object of this concise paper is to find statistics for the number of errors in a block of n digits transmitted over the troposcatter channel. An approximate solution for FSK modulation is found based on bounding the correlation between non-adjacent bits. As an application of the result, bit error probabilities were found after using the (23,12,3) Golay code. At high signal-to-noise ratio, there is an effective multiplication by 4 of the order of diversity as long as some decorrelation exists between adjacent bits.
