Abstract

Credit card fraud is the misuse of a credit card to make purchaseswithout authorization or counterfeiting a credit card. Credit cardsare the most often used electronic payment instrument. Types of creditcard fraud are: online credit card fraud, advance payments, stolencard numbers, shave and paste, de-emboss/re-emboss etc. If currentgrowth rates continue, credit cards and debit cards will each exceedthe number of paid checks before the end of the decade. As the industrycontinues to expand and offer credit to more and more consumers,fraud will also grow.
