Abstract

This 310-page book presents and describes Current Topics in Complement II, Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology. The book is organized into 21 individually authored chapters, which are further divided into different sections and subsections. The first chapter deals with adipokines and the immune system, an adipocentric view, in which endocrine functions of adipose tissue in the immune system, adipose tissue micro-environment, effect of adipocytes on macrophage function, and the role of C5L2. The second chapter describes the role of complement in stroke therapy, in which inflammation following cerebral ischemia, complement mediated ischemia/reperfusion injury, and implications of complement inhibition are described. The third chapter deals with food intake regulation by central complement system, in which C3a effect on food intake is discussed.
