Abstract

On d6crit Ie genre Pseudoapseudomorpha n.g. avec I'espbce P. madagascariensis n.sp., ainsi a,~_t'une eap&ce zppartenant a . ; geni.3 Ci-jipiapssudes iihescu, l976 (C. romanae n.sp.) MODEST GUTU I n a Tanaidacean material from the "Champlain" French Expedition to the western waters of the Indian Ocean, on the east of Madagascar -a material originating inone station -I identified a new genus and two new species whose description is given below. Pseudoapseudomorpha n.g. Type species : Pseudoapseudomorpha madagascariensis n.sp. Diagnosis : Body cylindrical. Ocular lobes present, with visual elements. Antennule biflagellate. Antenna with peduncle five-articulated ; squama present, but reduced in size. Mandible with three-articulated palp. Maxillule without palp. Pereopod 11, not rod-like, without exopodite, approximately equal and very similar t o pereopod 111. Pereopod I V smaller than the pre-ceding ones, but similar. Pereopod V different from the other ones. Pereo-pods V1 and VII similar to each other and different from the other ones. Pleopods simple, in reduced number. Uropods biramous. Etymology : The genus' name resulted from the fusion of the Greek ((+EBBo~(' (false, untrue, deceitful) with "Apseudomorpha", the name of the genus with which i t shows a series of affinities. Gender : feminine. Remarks : The new genus Pseudoapseudomorpha resembles Apseu-morpha Miller, 1940. The main difference from genus Apseudomorpha consists in the fact that Pseudoapseudomorpha n.g. has a maxillule without palp. Moreover, the general aspect of pereopods is different and pereopods I1 and I11 are approximately equal t o each other in the genus described by myself, which is not the case with the genus described by M i l l e r (1940).
