Abstract

A three-phase linear permanent magnet generator (LPMG) can be used to convert wave energy to electric energy. This generator has a simple structure and is economical to use compared with the conventional rotating generators. A LPMG is designed and simulated to convert wave energy to electric energy suitable for the north coast of Iran, Caspian Sea. Influence of wave amplitude, number of phases, floater diameter and load upon the performance of LPMG are investigated.
