Abstract

This work describes the present state-of-the-art in double-multiple streamtube method for modeling the Darrieustype vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT). Comparisons of the analytical results with the other predictions and available experimental data show a good agreement. This method, which incorporates dynamic-stall and secondary effects, can be used for generating a suitable aerodynamic-load model for structural design analysis of the Darrieus rotor. © 1987 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc.
