Abstract

The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland has developed a suite of online professional development modules together with an ePortfolio to support Faculty in their academic practice. As part of this project the Learning Technology Unit (LTU) developed a module on use of technologies in teaching and learning. We describe the pedagogical approach that we took to designing and developing the technology module and we explain the structure and content of the module in terms of educating educators in the constructive use of technologies for teaching and learning. Finally, we provide a brief overview of the function of the ePortfolio. We conclude by reflecting on whether the approach that we have taken will succeed in engaging educators with technologies for teaching.
