El Debate Recurrente sobre la Investigacion Cuantitativa y Cualitativa

Abstract

Después de plantear la complejidad de los procesos rea-les, de señalar lo imprescindible de trabajar con modelossimplificados en investigación y de poner de presente quetambién en los estilos de trabajo histórico-hermenéuticosen ciencias humanas existe la dimensión cuantitativa, esteartículo pasa en su segunda parte a mostrar la continuidad existente entre lo cuantitativo y lo cualitativo. Finaliza dandoalgunos ejemplos de los aportes que lo cuantitativo le hacea las políticas públicas y haciendo ciertas recomendacionesa los investigadores sobre la necesidad de conocer algunosmétodos cuantitativos recientes y cierta bibliografía sobreel tema.The first part of this article covers several topics: thecomplexity of real processes is presented; how indispensa-ble it is to work with simplified models in research is pointed out; and also that in the styles of historical-hermeneuticalwork in human sciences exists the quantitative dimension. In the second part the article presents the existing continu-ity between quantitative and qualitative. It finishes by giv-ing some examples of the contributions that the quantitativegives to the public policies and by giving some recommen-dations to researchers on the necessity to know some re-cent developments in quantitative methods and certainbibliography on the subject.
