Abstract
This article provides an introduction to an interview in which an experienced hunter from Igloolik, Aipilik Inuksuk, shares his knowledge of sea ice. It analyses the nature and differences between scientific and Inuit approaches to sea ice, and it describes the difficulties of documenting and recording Inuit knowledge in context. The article describes the Igloolik Oral History Project as an innovative example of documentation of indigenous knowledge. PUBLICATION ABSTRACT
