Abstract

Women's entry into the labor force and their experiences there not only reflect the influence of economic, legal, and socio-psychological forces but also have similarly multifaceted im- plications. Women in the Workplace provides the much needed multidisciplinary analysis that is required to account for these diverse fac- tors. Although the book recommends strategies for improving women's position, it makes no specific forecasts in this regard, as it acknowl- edges that the future is clouded by broader ques- tions such as the general economic climate in the 1980s and the environment for implement- ing legal decisions on discrimination.
