Abstract

GE’s distinctiveness can be attributed to its longterm investment in its people and its knowledge base. GE has been and is a global American company. Its origin as a leader in the generation, distribution, and utilization of electricity has provided the technological foundation of its evolution. The issues of this very complex company examined in this article focus primarily on its evolving business strategy and the place of education and training programs to support the strategy. © 2009 by the American Society for Engineering Management.
