This primary aim of this study was to examine whether experience, motivation, and divergent thinking are predictors of expertise and creativity in paper airplanes. It was predicted the more paper airplanes a participant has made, the farther distance their airplane will travel and the more creative the airplane measures the less distance it will travel. A total of 79 undergraduate college students participated in the study. The results revealed that motivation is a predictor of expertise; indicating the higher the level of motivation the farther the plane traveled. The findings from this study showed that motivation is a significant predictor of expertise even in a simple and seemingly routine task such as paper airplane making.
