The aim of the present study was to examine the factor structure and discriminant validity of Hare's Revised Psychopathy Checklist (PCL-R, Hare, 1991) in a group of Spanish male prison inmates. The PCL-R is a 20- item scale scored from interview and personal records. Two correlated factors were identified in the PCL-R, and this factor structure replicated the two-factor solution of previous studies. Factor-1 items were more related to a constellation of personality traits considered by many clinicians to be at the core of psychopathy, while Factor-2 items were more related to the behavioral features of a chronically unstable and anti-social life-style.
