A feasibility study helps answer the many questions that arise in the construction of a new stadium, including engineering aspects, land-use aspects, demand for the project, economic impact, and how it should be financed. These studies are used as a precursor to help decide on the practicality of million- or billion-dollar construction projects. Besides a general discussion of feasibility studies, this chapter will focus on how to determine the likely demand for a new stadium or arena. In other words, how many fans will show up, how many events will take place, what type of revenue can be expected from local companies buying luxury suites and sponsorships, etc.
