Abstract

Combining banks of DNC machines with computer controlled material handling produces a manufacturing system that can handle variety and volume, at relatively low costs. Simulation studies are evaluated to realize optimum handling of five variables: pallets, carts, on-shuttles, off-shuttles and workload.
