The horizontal and vertical velocity components within the transition zone between ice sheet and ice shelf are computed on a plane perpendicular to the grounding line. The Riiser-Larsenisen Ice Shelf is considered to be a promising candidate where two-dimensional calculation might be applied. -from Current Antarctic Literature
