Abstract

The ATSC 8-VSB DTV transmission system has been the U.S. standard since December 1996. Its path to becoming a standard included the work of many people and organizations, among them the Grand Alliance (GA), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC). A brief history of the ATSC transmission system is described. © 2007 IEEE.
