How to think like a psychologist : critical thinking in psychology

by Donald McBurney
PsycCRITIQUES (1996)

Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1996, Vol 41(9), 950. The reviewer notes that this book (see record 1995-99053-000) would be a useful adjunct to almost any introductory psychology class and should have a special place on an undergraduate's bookshelf. McBurney, a psychologist and university professor, offers 46 lessons in critical thinking through brief discussions of common, foundational questions students most often ask when beginning to learn psychology. By explicating in a clear and interesting way the many issues raised, McBurney models critical thinking skills and presents exercises at the end of each item to help students practice thinking critically.
