Abstract

The author comments on some features of the image-processing architectures described in the literature over the last few years, with the aim of finding guidelines for a better design of such systems. He also discusses his own experience, which, though limited to small autonomous systems, might also be of interest for larger ones. He deals with pyramids, uniform three-dimensional structures, memories, special processors, and hierarchies.
