Abstract

At the World Future Society's 8th General Assembly, FutureVision: Ideas, Insights, and Strategies, four leading thinkers addressed questions concerning the information technology revolution and its impacts. Kirkpatrick Sale feels information technology is shattering our economy, shriveling our society, and shredding our environment. Michael Marien's top-10 list of negative impacts include: 1. It is bad for jobs. 2. It is bad for national security. 3. It is bad for law and order. 4. It is bad for the future. 5. Having too much information is bad for our heads because it produces infoglut.
