Abstract

Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino provides an interesting insight on the interrelation between peace and war, through the perspective of the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church and within the context of the ongoing globalization process. The reasons for war and conflict and the negotiation solutions for achieving universal peace are examined not only through the lens of theological philosophy but also through a multidisciplinary perspective. This viewpoint focuses on a thorough study of contemporary international relations and the importance of conflict transformation mechanisms such as negotiation and mediation.
