Abstract
When discussing managing technology in a library context, the library systembe it an integrated, modularized package or a combination of disparate packages merged to serve the purpose should be a key element. Like all segments of information technology in the early part of the 21st century, this sector is experiencing increased demands and expectations fromits users. Certainly the prolifera- tion of information objects to be managed is no less in the library world than any other area. What factors are impacting the evolution and development of library systems today? Are the products available able to meet the demands both now and into the future?
