Abstract

Zusammenfassung Eine interpretative Politikforschung hat sich in den vergangenen zwanzig Jahren etablieren und verstetigen können, sie befindet sich jedoch in einer Defensivhaltung gegenüber den dominanten Strömungen der Politikwissenschaft. Hier soll nach Wegen gesucht werden, diese Defensive zu überwinden und durch eine geeignete Integration der Konzepte der "kausalen Mechanismen" und des "process tracing" interpretatives Erklären in den Katalog der Forschungsziele interpretativer Politikforschung aufzunehmen. Interpretive political analysis and causal mechanisms Abstract Over the past twenty years, interpretive political analysis has been successful in the global arena of political science, but has remained in a minority position. In this contribution, I will propose to overcome this defensive position by an appropriate incorporation of the concepts of "causal mechanisms" and "process tracing" and by the inclusion of "interpretative explanation" in the catalogue of research goals of this strand of policy research.
