Abstract

The biological bases of invertebrate immune responses have interested scientists for decades. This book summarizes aspects of invertebrate immune responses on the cellular, biochemical and molecular levels. Some chapters try to find unified patterns between phyla, others concentrate on one specific group of organisms. Concurrently, these review chapters present some of the rapid progress recently achieved in invertebrate immunity, placing this discipline as a fast-growing and important field in the biological sciences.
