Abstract

The effects of exptl. variables on the shape of the elution peak in gel permeation chromatog. of dextran (I) [9004-54-0] with narrow mol. wt. distribution using controlled-pore glass beads as the sepn. matrix and H2O contg. 0.2% KNO3 as the eluent were investigated. In a double logarithmic scale, a plot of elution vol.-column free vol. ratio vs. mol. wt. gave an almost linear universal calibration curve. A good agreement between simulation and expt. confirmed the applicability of stochastic models for elution behavior of I on columns of glass beads. [on SciFinder (R)]
