Abstract

This is a toxicology survey in Italy, which includes training processes, government agencies, paper and digital resources, scientific societies, and all related activities. Thanks to the Greek and Latin influences the toxicological conscience in Italy has very ancient roots, which have consolidated in modern times. The Italian Society of Toxicology (SITOX) is one of the oldest in Europe and in the world (in 2017 it completed 50 years since its foundation). Many of its members are also active in national and international agencies involved in risk assessment. The geographical position of Italy, its characteristics of territory, and its centrality in the Mediterranean Sea lend itself to making it the object of different toxicological problems.
