Abstract

The author reflects on how well teachers know their students. He notes a growing awareness among educators and educational psychologists of the influence of individual attributes on learning and the belief that assessing students' needs is necessary for the development and delivery of learner-centered curriculum. An overview of the importance of knowing students' on a personal level, as a means to improve their learning experience, is presented.
