The chapters in this volume are drawn from the nearly two hundred presentations given and workshops conducted at the 2011 Georgetown University Round Table on Lan- guages and Linguistics (GURT), “Discourse 2.0: Language and New Media.” Given the constraints of space inherent in a volume of this sort, it was necessary to reject many worthy papers. We are grateful to all those who submitted their papers for con- sideration, and to all those who were involved in the conference. To all who partici- pated, we continue to be inspired by your work. Finally, for invaluable assistance in preparing the manuscript for publication, we are deeply grateful to Gwynne Mapes.
