Abstract

Reference librarians can help patrons with their school assignments using three options. The first option is the 20 Second rule: if the patron with a project/assignment cannot clearly define their projects and explain to the librarian exactly what they want in 20 seconds or less, they have to leave and return only after they have comprehended the complexities of English or a language of their choice. The second option is the 20 Question rule: if the patron cannot clearly define their project/assignment in 20 questions or less, they have to leave and come back later when they have understood the complexities of English or a language of their choice. The third option is for reference librarians to use the Internet in finding the information requested by their patrons. Adapted from the source document.
