Abstract

Loess is a very widespread surface deposit accumulated during the Quaternary, from wind transportation and subsequent deposition. It gives rise to various landforms of particular significance to engineers. It is mainly of silt grading with high void ratios and dry strengths, but may collapse suddenly on wetting under load with high settlements. -from Authors
