Imaging plays a fundamental role in diagnosis & management with a high percentage of today's clinical work still dependent on well-established image ology. Dental radiology has long played an exciting and critical diagnostic role in dentistry, never truer than now with the rapidly expanding array of imaging modalities. Technical advances because of greater degree of research activity in this field, has led to the investigations of question which could not precisely be approached. Although MR imaging equipment is not found in any dental office, the images are easily obtained by the dentist on a referral basis to a medical radiology facility offering MR imaging. The resultant images are reviewed and analyzed by the dentist in conjunction with the radiologist's written report. One of the principal advantages of MR imaging is that no radiation is used to obtain the images, and no biologic damage has been reported thus far.
