Ensuring aircraft safety is a huge activity that requires a lot of effort. Today, it is still mostly made from a document management that is very complex and heavy to maintain. Thanks to a Model Driven Engineering (MDE) based approach, new processes and tools, based on models, are introduced at Airbus to overcome this difficulty. In this paper, we present an application of model transformation techniques to automatically generate safety models from design models made by the aircraft architects. We focus on the formalization of our model transformation and address some issues and chosen solutions, in particular concerning annotation, traceability and graph specialization. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
