There are several techniques and procedures proposed for neck rejuvenation that have less than optimal results for correcting the submental and jowl areas. The prob-lem with the submental area is that the point of the pull is angled and too far away. That is to say behind the ear and the back hairline is distant from the submental area. Therefore, if the surgeon wants to have a natural look to a facelift there will always be some laxity and loose-ness in the submental area and if the surgeon pulls it too tight to compensate for the distance there will be an unnatural result with a windblown appearance. Patients wish to have a natural appearance. © Springer-Verlag 2008.
