Abstract

Several remote communities have restricted access to electricity, and depend especially from fossil fuels, which are environmentally negative. Currently, this issue is being addressed with the implementation of microgrids with renewable energy. Thus, this paper discusses the renewable energy alternatives for the Amazon region in Ecuador. Two scenarios are evaluated considering different types of generation. A search space is performed, and for each scenario, the optimal configuration in terms of costs is obtained.
