Abstract

The aim of this book is to bridge the present gap and encourage more interaction between the various fields of study and selected microscopic methods with special emphasis on their suitability for investigating metals. This book contains 12 papers. Topics discussed are: scanning acoustic microscopy; high-resolution electron microscopy; field ion microscopy; x-ray and neutron diffraction; extended x-ray absorption fine structure; x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; Auger electron spectroscopy; positron annihilation; muon spectroscopy; perturbed angular correlation; nuclear magnetic resonance; and Moessbauer spectroscopy.
