The development and use of mathematical and numerical models for the analysis of groundwater flow and the transport of pollutants by ground water are described. Many actual models, mainly based on the finite element and finite difference methods are discussed. The topics covered include steady and unsteady two dimensional flow in aquifers, pollutant transport by advection and dispersion, and seawater intrusion.
