Abstract

Aim of the present work is to increase the knowledge of the wave induced morphodynamic of a sand pit. In particular, an experimental investigation by means of an innovative, accurate, non-invasive technique has been carried out. Such a technique seemed to be particularly appropriate for contactless and dynamic measurements of the sandy bottom evolution. The obtained results allowed the sand pit refilling phenomenon and some interesting considerations on the particular hydrodynamic conditions induced by the presence of the pit to be made. ? 2009 World Scientific Publishing Co.
