Abstract

This study attempts to formulate the formation of nitrate in atmospheric aerosols. The authors are also interested in ascertaining possible explanations for the observed differences in sulfate and nitrate size distributions. A discussion is presented of the paths of formation of nitrates in the atmosphere. The principal atmospheric conversion mechanisms for nitrate in the types of systems studied are outlined.
