Abstract

I report an incidence of chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus) cracking of Detarium senegalense (Caesalpiniaceae) nuts on Tiwai Island, Sierra Leone. Similar behavior has been reported from other West African locations, but not from Central or East Africa. © 1985 Japan Monkey Centre.
