This research is concerned with how different varieties of BritishEnglish are processed by French learners of English. Our goal isto characterize the impact that phonetic and phonological differencesbetween varieties of British English may have on spoken languagecomprehension in these learners. We have chosen to work on Geordieaccent (Newcastle) which presents interesting homophones with StandardEnglish.
