Abstract

In no infrastructure environments, Mobile ad hoc Network (MANET) can configure its own network without extra works. However, MANET has many problems to connect to Internet as a stand-alone network. The most of existing solutions for these problems usually have serious overheads from caused by duplicated message broadcastings. In this paper, we propose a method to support internetworking connection between MANET and Internet with short hand-off delay of less bandwidth. We propose a new efficient dynamic advertisement method for reducing the duplicated control messages. We implement it and use ns2 to compare the proposed approach with the existing solutions in terms of the overhead and throughput for packet transmission. ©2006 OSIA.
