Abstract

The phospholyl nickel compound [{Ni(η5-C4Me4P)(μ-η1-C4Me4P)}2] 1 was prepared by treating NiCl2 with two equivalents of KC4Me4P in pyridine, whereas reaction of NiCl2 with two equivalents of [U(η5-C4Me4P)3Cl] or an excess of [U(η5-C4Me4P)2Cl2] afforded the trinuclear complex [Ni{(μ-η5,η1-C4Me4P)2UCl2}2] 2. Reduction of a 1:2 mixture of 1 and [U(η5-C4Me4P)2Cl2] by sodium amalgam in tetrahydrofuran gave the tetranuclear compound [{Ni2(μ-η1-C4Me4P)2}{(μ-η5,η1-C4Me4P)2UCl2}2 · 3C4H8O] 3. The crystal structures of 1, 2 and 3 have been determined.
