Abstract

Two-dimensional PbII iodoacetate complex {Pb(ICH2COO)2}n (1) was prepared by reaction of lead nitrate with potassium iodoacetate. In 1, Pb is hepta-coordinated; additionally, metal centers participate in non-covalent I···I and Pb···I contacts. According to the analysis of XRD data and DFT calculations, the I···I non-covalent interactions are crystal packing-induced type I contacts, and Pb···I contacts are caused by interactions between Pb2+ as electrophilic center and lone pairs of the iodine atom.
