Abstract

It is reported that with the Autocrimp process it is possible for polypropylene to take the place of polyester for fibrefill. The cost of transporting fibrefill is high due to its bulky nature, but it is now economically viable to extrude pp on the Autocrimp process at small scale plants. This also avoids the problem of varying batches of polyester fibrefill, which require varying processing conditions, coming from different suppliers.
