Abstract

Provides a comprehensive account of the current state of industrial archaeology in Britain. Also suggests priorities for the discipline into the next decade. The priorities in industrial archaeology concern recording, research and interpretation, as they do in any other period archaeology. Although conservation is important as well, the author concludes that this is more the field of the heritage industry which is not synonymous with industrial archaeology.
