Almost forecast analyses showed that the gap between needs and cereal availability could worsen in the Mediterranean. The effects of climate change, trade-offs between different uses of cereals, as well as the business strategies of major cereal producers and the structural instability of international agricultural markets could fasten the advent of a food insecurity era. In this context, our work aims to conduct a forecast study on the cereal situation in the Mediterranean region, with the backdrop of geopolitical and strategic issues raised by these questions. The different scenarios analyzed emphasize the importance of an enhanced cooperation in the Mediterranean.
